We got this for our 6 year old daughter who is an engineer in the making and she loves it.
She's obviously a bit young for following the plans at the moment but she works with her dad (a mechanical engineer who had lots of Meccano when he was young) at identifying the pieces and putting it together. The instructions are very clear. They are working on the crane from the box cover. It's taking ages but her enthusiasm is not waning.
She puts together her own simple projects too. This is a toy that will grow with her over the years and represents a good investment. The only problem being she will always be wanting more!!!!
My husband is very impressed how Meccano has been brought up to date with the appropriate use of plastic pieces (eg roller bearings, small pulleys etc) and an Allen key!
Highly recommended.
